Dear Diary,
Today Mom took us to the farmhouse. It was a nasty, dark and rainy day outside, so I didn’t really get a good look at anything from the outside.
This house has been sitting empty for some time. BLECH! There was dust and dirt all over the place. I’m not certain but there might be animals living in there.

Assignment: Finish the journal entry AFTER you do a bit of research on spiders. Someone in this story was startled to discover a spider! (Don’t forget to tell us who that someone is!)
Now the depth of the research you do on this is completely up to you (and your parent). If you find this topic fascinating, by all means delve deeply! If spiders creep you out, do a quick bit of research.
What you want to do is pick a spider to go into the story. Know enough about that spider that you can describe it. Maybe find a picture of the spider to put into your journal entry. Is it dangerous? What does it eat? What did you do with it?
Cool Activity:
-
fill in a diagram of a spider.
